Have questions about prom tuxedo rentals? We have your answers here! When should I come in to get my prom tuxedo? To be honest, there is not a time that is too early for prom tux shopping. The earlier you come in, the more options you will have. That being said, we like to have a week before your event. Don’t have that much time? No worries, we will still have you looking great! But remember the more time the better! How do we match colors with my date’s dress? The best way to do this is to have some kind of swatch or piece of fabric from the dress. Ladies are more than welcome to bring their whole dress in, a piece of the fabric or a picture. Pictures are the most difficult, but definitely possible with extra confirmation. We also can change vest colors if a confirmation is necessary after the first visit with no extra charge up to the week before the event! But please ladies, remember they need some guideline for color to have you looking great that evening! How much is this going to cost me? Tuxedos come in a wide range of styles and prices. Our prom special is $50 off any tuxedo package. With your discount included, prom tuxedos can range from $102-$192 including shoes! We also have a great referral program where you can become a prom rep and take an additional $20 off for each referral! A consultant will give more details when picking out your tux. What comes with the rental price? We are pretty much all inclusive as far as rentals for prom night! Your rental always comes with shirt, jacket, pants, long tie or bowtie, vest or cummerbund, studs and cufflinks, and a traditional patent leather shoe! We also have add-ons available for purchase including pocket squares and socks at a minimal charge. All you have to worry about is the underwear! Leave the rest up to us! Do I have to pay in full the day I pick out my tuxedo? No! We do, however, require a minimum down payment of at least $20. Do I have to pick up my own tux or can someone else pick it up for me? We really strongly encourage all people to pick up their own tuxedos and try them on in the shop. We are a local business and are able to check to make sure everything is perfect before you leave our store. Last minute alterations can be done in-house in a jiff! When do I have to bring the tuxedo back to you? Most rentals we need back next day. However, for all Saturday proms you are able to relax and not worry about returning your tuxedo until Monday and anyone can bring it back for you! Why should I get my prom tux from Brighton Tux Shop? So the wedding plans are in place, dresses are bought, and the venue is ready. All that’s left is the guys. Now here’s the big question; white or ivory. For some this seems like a straight forward answer, but when it comes to color we want to make sure your day looks perfect! After much bridal shopping most women know the difference between white and ivory or at least have been told about the color options. With wedding dresses coming in such a large variety of colors, it can be difficult to make a decision on how to get the men to match. We are here to help in any way possible and make sure the colors are what you want and look great. Let’s start with the basics; white and ivory. For the men that don’t really know, the difference is very subtle. Most people can’t tell that ivory is not white unless it is next to something white. So, that is where the problem lies. Many people think that tuxedo ivory is yellow, but we have caught up to the wedding dress industry! The ivory is very light, like the gowns are today, but it makes all the difference. The white is definitely more stark and will look great against a white gown, but mixing and matching colors is not the way to go. We want a perfect match and this includes matching vests, ties, cummerbund, and bow ties as well as shirts. Now we know wedding dresses don’t only come in the traditional white and ivory anymore. There are colors like champagne, blush, peach, and light gold to name a few. When it comes to these shades it becomes a personal opinion. We can, of course, match the color of the dress with one of our numerous vest options. Or you could choose to stick with ivory or white. Just make sure that if you are keeping softer, more antique feeling you consider ivory, or the brighter white in accessories consider going with white. Of course we want to keep you looking your best on your wedding day and want the men to look just as you imagined. Keeping color in mind, helps us achieve the look you desire. Don’t be afraid to bring pictures or send the groom out the door to talk about color. We are all about accommodating and making sure your big day is flawless.
Everyone loves to have options in the world today, but when it comes to planning your wedding too may options can seem overwhelming. We are here to help you understand the three fits found in tuxedos. Whether you are looking for a classic event or a more contemporary flair we can help find the style right for you! Traditional Fit A traditional fit tuxedo is great for any shape or size. They are a “softer” silhouette, giving it a truer fit through the body of the coat. The coat length on this style hits at a traditional dinner jacket length. The lapels are usually done in a satin of some type and are slightly more prominent. These jackets are usually a non vented back. With this style you have two options for pants. The options are pleated or flat front. While pleated was the fad for many years, flat front pants have become the style of choice. This look is a fit that everyone will look amazing in and a classic look for any big day. Modern Fit The modern fit tuxedo is a reflection of the traditional fit. It is the same soft silhouette through the body of the coat, but they do feature a shorter jacket length by one inch. These jackets are usually vented in some way. The lapel on this jacket can be a variety of fabric and the it is slightly narrower than the traditional fit. This jacket can be worn with a slim fit pant to give it a more fashion forward look, or the pleated or flat front pants in the regular fit. The slim fit pants taper down from the knee and hit slightly higher on the heel of the shoe. The modern fit is a great medium between more classic and contemporary look. Slim Fit The slim fit tuxedo is done in a more accentuated silhouette. The jacket has a slighter shoulder and a highly tapered fit. This jacket is usually vented and also has the narrower lapel found in the modern fit jackets. The length of this jacket varies depending on style or designer, and can be either the same length as the modern or traditional dinner jacket length. These jackets are worn with a slim fit pant and are the most contemporary in style. Want to see what we’re talking about? Times are changing and so are weddings and other formal events. As we see more informal events becoming popular many may ask “why black tie?” and “what does black tie mean?” Amidst all the change a black tie event is something nearly everyone will experience in their lifetime. Now for the FYI what it means when they say black tie! Let’s start with the basic definition: when an invitation says “black tie attire” it means, simply, formal dress. For women this means a gown and for men it means a tuxedo. Just because it says “black tie” however, does not mean the men must wear all black. Men are expected to wear tuxedo jacket and pants, but are they are not required to be a certain style or color. The style of the jacket is where you can do something different from all the tuxedos around you. Whether it is fit or lapel style, the options are endless. Although no color of the actual jacket and pants are required, you will find that most people in attendance will wear a black jacket and pants. As far as accessories go, men have the choice of vest or cummerbund, and long tie or bow tie. These can be any style or color, although most will go with a conservative black. There are many patterns available creating a tone on tone look for vests, ties, and cummerbunds and all are acceptable and show some personality. Right now the popular style is a vest and bow tie for formal events. Of course there are more things that are highly suggested when it comes to black tie. First are patent leather shoes. Some may say that these are optional, but really they are the icing on the cake. If you have gone far enough to rent the whole tuxedo don’t skimp on the shoes! Along with this you should look at studs and cuff links, especially when wearing a bow tie. Make sure you get one last look and you are ready for an elegant night. The Brighton Tux Shop is ready to help you dress for your black tie events. We have a large selection of tuxedos of every style and color, along with a multitude of color options in vest, tie, or cummerbund accessories. Let us help you look your best for your upcoming event!
The list of things to do is long for every Bride before the big day, but don’t stress about tuxedos! The Brighton Tux Shop makes your tuxedo choice easy and enjoyable, but here are a few questions we can answer about the process of finding tuxes or suits for your bridal party members. When should I come in? Unlike the wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses, it does not take many months to get the tuxedos in, however this does not mean you need to wait until the last minute. We typically recommend the Bride and Groom come in about two months in advance, that way there is time to get everyone measured and it is just one less worry. We do accommodate any time schedule that happens, so don’t feel stressed if you are closer to the wedding date than what was suggested. We will make sure we have the wedding party looking sharp no matter the deadline. Do I need an appointment? We do not require appointments. We welcome any wedding party at any time. How long will it take? The process is much quicker, most of the time, then finding the perfect wedding gown. We try to make it as easy as possible, however it will take some time. Typically the process (without measuring) can take anywhere between half an hour to an hour once you are with your consultant. Measuring takes about 15 minutes. We try to make the process quick, for all the busy schedules, but also make sure that each customer is getting individualized attention. Who should be with me? The first time that you come in to our store and are ready to pick out what you want the bridal party to wear, it is best to have both the Bride and Groom. It may be tempting to bring the whole wedding party, but it may make the process unnecessarily longer, but don’t feel they are unwelcome! Anyone you choose to be there are more than welcome to come. We can measure them then, but note that each person measured will take about 15 additional minutes. What should I have with me? There are very few things you need when visiting us. You of course need the Bride and Groom, but along with that there are a couple more things to think about bringing along. First, make sure you have the names of anyone you want fitted by us including groomsmen, fathers, ring bearers, ushers, and any others you may have. Also a good thing to have is a swatch of the bridesmaid dresses. It will make matching the groomsmen’s vests and ties or bow ties much simpler. Other than that just bring any ideas about fit and style you have! What kind of payment do I need? No payment is required to get the tuxes ordered, however all rentals must be paid for in full before they leave the store. It is completely up to the customer if they want to do any payment before pick up day. We try to make the process of finding the tux for your big day fun and simplistic. We know you will enjoy your experience and can’t wait to help you find exactly what you are looking for! Remember, don’t stress and Don’t Get Married until you visit The Brighton Tux Shop!
